Welcome to the Eglwyscummin Community Website
(which as you can see is under construction) the site for
those who live, work, have connections or are just interested
in the area. Here you will find information on a variety of subjects,
including news, events, history, people and more.
Eglwyscummin is a Community Ward made
up of the three ward parishes of Marros, Eglwyscummin and Ciffig
all surrounding the Village of Red Roses and situated on the south-western
boundary of Carmarthenshire in South West Wales.
There are are around 500 residents
living in the community. The name Eglwyscummin means Church Community
and along with the three ancient churches of St. Lawrence, St
Margaret (Eglwyscummin) and Ciffig, there is an old baptist church
and until mid 2008 an old derelict chapel stood on the site where
the new local Community Centre now stands, complementing the memorial
gardens next door.
The main economic structure is a cross
between farming and holiday accommodation. Both Pendine and Amroth
Beaches are near-by and the area is close to the southern end
of the Pembrokeshire coastal walk.
Other businesses include a bus / coach
company, two public houses and a family business making very creamy
Jersey ice cream.
This website is run for the community
by the Community Association who's aim is to enhance and improve
facilities for all sections of the community.
